We are in business since 1999 when this site was originally published. Our company, Simple Motors, located in Plano, Texas, is always fully operational.
Time has passed since the days of the original development of these motors. My son Stan is pursuing other interests and does not continue this project anymore.
We tried to preserve the original information on this site but also added a lot of additional motors, parts, etc. with easy to understand explanations and easy to follow instructions.
We will always try to do our best to keep all of our customers happy.

Stan's information about his project (as published in 2002)
Hi! My name is Stan Pozmantir. I am an 11th grader at Plano
East Senior High School in Plano, Texas.
In 1997-1998 I designed a new type of simple brushless
motor for my school science fair (disclosure document filed with US PTO).
It is a reed switch based motor. This motor is
very simple but at the same time fast, reliable and efficient. It is also easy
to understand its principles of operation. This is how my original project
looked:
My second year research was devoted to the further development of this
motor. At this time I improved and simplified its design.
It allowed me to start this business.
For my 1999-2000 project I designed and built 7 more different
brushless motors. All of these motors shared a common design, and thus I could
easily compare them together. Several of the motors that I used in my project
were modified and are now available as kits on this site. They include the
transistor controlled reed switch motor, the optointerrupter motor, and the
motor based on the Hall effect. These motors were simplified to have the minimum
number of parts and to operate as efficiently as possible.

Many of these awards also included generous cash prizes that I used to
start this business.
I would like to credit my dad for
spending a tremendous amount of his time helping me with this project (and for
helping me in setting up this site as well). He helped me to go all the way from
my initial ideas to the present stage. Not only did my dad teach me how to use
the correct tools for the right task and how to conduct the experiments, but he
also insisted on making me redo any step that wasn’t perfect (or close to
it). I missed so many TV shows because of this!!! I also need to credit my
mom for soothing tensions between my dad and me from overheating.
I worked on these motors for 3 years nearly every week, but now I need
to concentrate on my school assignments. Homework at high school is taking more
and more of my free time away. Since I am currently going to Senior High School
I have almost no spare time and I have decided to concentrate more on school
work. However, we still take orders for kits and
answer your questions. Sometimes if I have some free time I will also respond
to e-mails. I am really glad that my father is offering to help me again with
this business. His help allows us to respond to all business matters promptly
and keep all of our customers satisfied.
With whatever free time I may have, I like to play hockey (both ice and
in-line) and to go skiing/snowboarding (whenever possible). I also enjoy
listening to music, especially rock/alternative.
